Racha is a highland area in western Georgia, located in the upper Rioni river valley and surrounded by the Greater Caucasus mountains. The region is popular with anglers and rafters, as well as mountain bikers and paragliders. This region is also famous for its natural mineral waters, diverse landscapes, rapid rivers and health resorts. The most famous Resort is Shovi, located 350 km west from Tbilisi. There are 16 types of unique mineral waters. Racha also contains some remarkable cultural treasures. Nikortsminda Cathedral is one of a most distinguished Georgian Orthodox Church, located in Racha. The Cathedral is on the tentative list for status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is also famous for its semi-sweet wine Khvanchkara, which is produced at Khvanchkara Winery according to the ancient traditions
