Mtskheta-Mtianeti

Mtskheta is the ancient capital of Georgia located 20 km from Tbilisi. Its history started long ago than Georgia got Christianity. Due to its historical significance and numerous ancient monuments Mtskheta became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. There are the most important monuments of Georgian Christian architecture – Svetitskhoveli and Jvari. Mtskheta makes an easy and enjoyable day trip from Tbilisi with its castles, monasteries, fortresses, museums and many others. There are Monastery of Shio-Mgvime and the Zedazeni complex several kilometers away from Mtskheta. They include facilities of different time periods: a cave church, the Church of St. John the Baptist, a bell tower, a fortress and monastic cave cells.

Kazbegi is a small town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia. Historically and ethnographically, the town is part of the Khevi province. It is known for its scenic location in the Greater Caucasus mountains, and is a center for trekkers and mountain climbing.

The town is charming and a wonderful base camp for exploring the region further. There are many picturesque gorges and waterfalls in this area.The  Gergeti Trinity Church built in the XIV century at an altitude of 2170m. is one of the most visited places for tourists and you can find many guesthouses In the Kazbegi District too. the most popular holiday destination Gudauri is situated along the Georgian Military Highway.

Gudauri is the largest ski resort located on the south-facing plateau of the Caucasus Mountain in Georgia, 2,200 meters above sea level. Gudauri is a modern place with the well-developed infrastructure, different trails and lifts even for beginners and pro- riders. The best originality of Gudauri is the distance between the capital of Georgia and the resort. It takes approximately 2 hours from Tbilisi to Gudauri. The ski season lasts from December to April and you can always enjoy exposure to the sun on skiable area. There are many hotels and cottages of different categories and special playgrounds for children. Ski days are accompanied by exciting nightlife when guests can relax and have a nice time.

Khevsureti is one of the historical-ethnographic region in eastern Georgia in Mtskheta-Mtianei region. Khevsuretian villages attract visitors for its architecture. The houses and towers were closely built to easily protect the village inhabitants from invaders. There are some Important villages – Shatili, Mutso, Barisakho and Ardoti there. All of them were built in the middle ages and they emotionally impress everyone.
The main village of Khevsureti is Shatili located 1400 m above sea level. The village is a favorite destination for tourists and mountain trekkers. The views from the house-towers of the village are breathtaking.
